Older dogs and cats often have heart failure. The hawthorn extract and L-carnitine in Canina ® HERZ VITAL effectively stabilize and strengthen the heart function. Hawthorn (Crataegus) has long been used successfully as an accompanying measure in human medicine for chronic heart failure.

The flavonoids and procyanidins contained in hawthorn support the heart muscle.

L-Carnitine:
Improves the energetic supply of the heart and skeletal muscles, increases the strength of the heart muscles. Your dog’s vitality, motivation and wellbeing are promoted.

Studies with performance dogs indicated a significant improvement in the performance parameters when L-carnitine was added, especially in newborns, whose body synthesis is still limited, but also in animals for which increased demands are made. Dogs with heart problems were examined as early as 1988. 7 of 20 animals had a reduced L-carnitine content in the heart muscle tissue. These dogs were successfully treated with oral L-carnitine supplementation. After the supplementary feeding was stopped, the heart muscle problems reappeared.

Note: Feed analyzes of various commercial complete dog foods showed, in comparison to pure meat feed, noticeably low L-carnitine levels. The carnitine content of these finished feeds was more than 10 times lower than that of pure meat. In fact, L-carnitine is more poorly absorbed by the dog’s kidneys than by non-carnivorous animals. A higher excretion of vital L-carnitine in domestic animals can therefore lead to a threatening deficiency compared to wild animals. For this reason, Canina  HERZ-VITAL is urgently recommended, regardless of what you are feeding. It is recommended to seek advice from our vet before feeding or extending the feeding time.

Composition: dextrose, yeast, hawthorn extract (Crataegus)

Ingredients: 4.0% crude protein, 0.5% crude fat, 0.0% crude fiber, 1.0% crude ash, 0.2% potassium, 53.0% water, 0.0% magnesium, 0.0% sodium

Nutritional additives per 1,000ml: 30,000mg L-carnitine

Feeding recommendation per animal and day:

Dogs: ½ teaspoon per 10kg body weight (max. 3 teaspoons)

Cats: ½ teaspoon

(1 teaspoon = approx. 3ml)

Canina HERZ-VITAL is administered as a cure for 6 months with the feed.
